Key Responsibilities

• Execute cash and related transactions, balancing and managing the cash float daily.
• Dispense and receive physical cash, cheques, travellers cheques, drafts, and other financial instruments over the counter.
• Process and encash cheques, verifying identification and account details, and adhering to prescribed controls.
• Maintain vigilance for fraudulent or suspicious activities, reporting concerns to management promptly.
• Adhere strictly to policies, especially concerning cheques, notes, and IDs, to prevent fraud.
• Refer transactions exceeding teller mandate limits to mandated officials for authorisation.
• Capture all transactions accurately on the Bank system, ensuring proper authorisation.
• Carefully count all cash received or dispensed using applicable equipment to avoid errors.
• Reconcile own cash at the beginning and end of each day, preparing reports for audit and management.
• Process journals to recover charges for manual customer transactions.
• Ensure adherence to SARB minimum requirements.
• Provide advice to customers on cash and transaction processes, ensuring smooth service flow.
• Resolve customer enquiries or escalate to relevant departments/managers.
• Provide regular feedback to customers on enquiry progress.
• Explain Bank procedures, security requirements (e.g., ID for transactions), and service offerings.
• Report customer complaints via the Bank’s Customer Care process (CCP).
• Guide customers on correctly completing transaction documentation.
• Ensure accuracy and efficiency in all customer interactions, maintaining a friendly and focused approach.
• Portray a professional image, adhering to Absa Corporate Image standards and the Corporate Wear policy.
• Maintain a neat and tidy workstation, ensuring sufficient stationery.
• Regularly review pricing documents for Teller transactions to assist clients effectively.
• Adhere to policies on issuing pins and statements to solution customer needs at the point of contact.
• Migrate clients with cash withdrawal transactions less than R4000 and cash deposit less than R8000 to Digital & Self-help channels, providing necessary assistance.
• Maintain speed and agility to minimise shortages and surpluses.
• Market products by distributing booklets or pamphlets to customers and educating them on alternative transaction methods.
