Pick n Pay is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Blockman to enhance its butchery team in Soweto, Gauteng. As a Blockman, you will be entrusted with the precise preparation, attractive merchandising, and effective promotion of various meat cuts, directly influencing the customer's shopping experience. Key Responsibilities
- Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw, with utmost safety and efficiency.
- Promptly report any defective equipment or utensils to the Butchery Manager to ensure operational continuity and safety.
- Control, merchandise, and promote stock in strict accordance with established company procedures and standards.
- Skillfully prepare and break down various meat carcasses, adhering to precise specifications.
- Execute de-boning of all cuts of meat and expertly manufacture mince, sausage, and boerewors.
- Proactively prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages to all meat products.
- Regularly check temperatures and diligently monitor/maintain the cold chain to guarantee product freshness and safety.
- Provide required products and services, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain an exceptionally high level of cleanliness and hygiene for all butchery-related equipment and utensils.
- Assist with the efficient receiving of meat deliveries from suppliers.
- Support the training of staff on various new products and lines, fostering team development.
