Job Description
Air Chefs SOC Ltd, a renowned subsidiary of South African Airways, is offering an exciting 12-month Food Technology Internship Programme based in Cape Town, Western Cape. Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Quality Assurance: Identify, log, and escalate food safety non-conformances, participate in scheduled internal hygiene audits, and ensure compliance with strict industry food safety benchmarks.
Production & Process Monitoring: Gain hands-on exposure to high-volume airline catering workflows, conduct in-process quality evaluations, and assist with production planning checks.
Hygiene & Sanitation Oversight: Conduct routine hygiene inspections across food-contact surfaces, equipment, and workstations while monitoring staff adherence to personal hygiene standards.
Raw Material Assessment: Inspect incoming ingredients against strict culinary standards, verifying freshness, packaging integrity, temperature controls, and expiry labelling.
Product Specifications & Portion Control: Perform weight, appearance, and presentation verifications on finished meal components to ensure compliance with airline client guidelines.
Product Development Support: Assist kitchen and culinary development teams with new ingredient evaluations, trial documentation, and shelf-life testing assessments.
Testing & Traceability: Collect environmental, surface, and meal samples for laboratory testing while keeping accurate traceability logs from receiving to dispatch.
Waste Management: Monitor operational scrap and food waste metrics, assisting the team with root-cause analysis and sustainable waste-reduction initiatives.
