Job Description
SGS South Africa is currently offering an exceptional opportunity for young, driven South African youth through the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme for the 2026 / 2027 cycle. This specialized HR Administration Internship is designed to offer hands-on work experience within a world-leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification organization. Based at the Pretoria offices, the successful candidate will provide essential, day-to-day administrative support to the Human Resources and Procurement divisions, gaining comprehensive exposure to corporate HR operations, employee lifecycle workflows, and cutting-edge payroll technologies.
As an intern in the HR department, you will collaborate closely with experienced HR professionals to maintain document accuracy, facilitate employee onboarding, and assist with global and local HR projects. This 12-month work-readiness initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and the professional corporate environment, equipping participants with foundational skills in personnel management, HR compliance, and database administration.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the coordination, data capturing, and ongoing maintenance of both local and global HR projects and initiatives.
Support the Human Resources Manager with internal and external audit preparation across HR and Payroll systems.
Maintain, organize, and update digital and physical employee personnel files to ensure high standards of record management.
Operate and capture data in Payspace, including new employee engagements, internal transfers, promotions, banking detail changes, and terminations.
Facilitate the maintenance of electronic document control systems and HR documentation archives on Microsoft SharePoint.
Assist in the review, distribution, and updating of standard HR documentation such as engagement packs, contracts of employment, and policy acknowledgments.
Ensure the strict confidentiality, quality, and precision of all personal information processed within the HR and Procurement function.
Adhere strictly to corporate compliance protocols, the SGS Code of Integrity, and professional safety management standards.
Perform related ad-hoc administrative support duties as assigned by the direct line manager.

Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent National Senior Certificate.
Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Previous administrative experience or HR-related qualification is advantageous.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail when handling confidential information.
Must be an eligible South African citizen meeting the standard YES Programme requirements.
