Job Description
The FAIS Ombud invites ambitious and qualified graduates to apply for its structured 12-month Human Resources Graduate Internship Programme based in Pretoria. Designed to create a viable pipeline of competent talent for the South African labour market, this developmental opportunity pairs graduates with experienced mentors within the statutory public financial sector. As an intern within the Human Resources Department, the successful candidate will gain comprehensive, hands-on experience across the entire human resource value chain, establishing a solid foundation for a thriving career in human capital management.
Key Responsibilities
The selected HR Graduate Trainee will be actively involved in supporting a variety of administrative and operational HR functions, including:
Providing foundational administrative support across all HR workstreams, including digital employee records management and document compliance.
Assisting with talent acquisition workflows, including posting job adverts, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and coordinating new-hire onboarding processes.
Supporting compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to statutory employment standards, internal HR policies, and regulatory governance.
Assisting in the coordination, scheduling, and logistical administration of internal training and skills development programmes.
Supporting payroll administration, leave tracking, and the management of employee benefits portfolios.
Compiling, updating, and maintaining accurate HR reporting data and human capital analytics.
Participating in employee wellness campaigns and internal staff engagement initiatives.

Requirements
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7) in Human Resource Management or an equivalent qualification.
South African citizen with a valid South African Identity Document (ID).
Demonstrated interest in public service and the financial regulatory sector.
Strong academic track record coupled with high standards of personal and professional integrity.
Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, and oral/written presentation skills.
Foundational understanding of core Human Resource principles and the employee lifecycle.
Energetic, proactive, deadline-driven, and capable of working effectively under pressure.
