A Junior Actuarial Analyst at Nedbank plays a crucial role in supporting the Corporate Actuarial team, contributing to the financial stability and strategic decision-making of one of South Africa's leading financial institutions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the completion of monthly IFRS reserving results for insurance licences, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. This involves detailed data analysis and reconciliation.
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) returns, contributing to the bank's regulatory reporting obligations.
- Investigate actuarial results to identify trends, anomalies, and emerging issues, providing insightful analysis to senior actuaries and management.
- Contribute to actuarial basis setting exercises, which are fundamental to the valuation of insurance liabilities and capital requirements.
- Assist with the actuarial components of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, helping to evaluate the bank's overall risk profile and capital adequacy.
- Participate in the annual forecasting and planning process, providing actuarial input for business projections and strategic initiatives.
- Support the automation and enhancement of existing actuarial processes to improve operational efficiency and data integrity, utilising tools like Microsoft Excel and other actuarial modelling software.
- Document actuarial methodologies, processes, and controls, ensuring transparency, auditability, and knowledge transfer within the team.
- Prepare and communicate actuarial results and insights to actuarial management, translating complex technical information into clear, actionable summaries.
- Actively contribute as a collaborative member of the Corporate Actuarial team, fostering a supportive and high-performance work environment.
- Participate in initiatives that support Nedbank's culture, transformation, and employee engagement objectives, aligning with the bank's broader corporate values.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Science, Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, B.Degree in Statistics or Mathematics
- Matric / National Senior Certificate / Grade 12
- 0 - 1 year actuarial experience
- Minimum 4 actuarial exams completed (ASSA preferred)
