The successful candidate will report to the Head of Data and play a crucial role in building and maintaining robust data pipelines within EasyPay, a division of Lesaka Technologies that facilitates a wide range of bill payments through South Africa's largest retail footprint. Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest transactional data into the data warehouse.
Write and optimize SQL queries and transformations for reporting and analytical purposes.
Monitor pipeline runs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure data integrity.
Support data quality checks and identify anomalies in source or pipeline data.
Document data flows, schema changes, and technical processes to facilitate team efficiency.
Assist with data migration and modelling as the EasyPay platform evolves.
Collaborate with the data engineering team to ensure the trustworthiness, accessibility, and query performance of data.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of data infrastructure and processes.

Requirements
1-2 years' experience in a data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend role (internships count).
Solid SQL skills, including experience with joins, aggregations, and window functions.
Working knowledge of Python for scripting and data processing.
Exposure to a cloud data platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Understanding of relational databases and basic data modelling concepts.
A relevant qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Exposure to Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration/transformation tools (nice to have).
Experience with Git and CI/CD basics (nice to have).
Interest in payments, fintech, or high-volume transactional systems (nice to have).
