Designed specifically for ambitious candidates seeking an entry-level pathway into mechanical engineering and mining operations, this structured learnership delivers comprehensive theoretical education alongside intensive hands-on workplace training. As a Learner Fitter, you will work under the mentorship of certified Artisans, gaining essential exposure to state-of-the-art heavy mining machinery, precision mechanical repairs, and planned preventative maintenance in a high-performing mining environment.

Candidates will report directly to the HRD Officer and designated technical mentors, ensuring continuous guidance, professional development, and rigorous safety compliance throughout the entire duration of the trade qualification pathway.
Key Responsibilities
Assist qualified Artisans and Fitters with routine mechanical maintenance, overhauls, repairs, and installations across underground and surface mining infrastructure.
Learn to accurately interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, mechanical schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
Participate actively in fault-finding, diagnostic inspections, and mechanical troubleshooting on industrial mine equipment.
Operate, inspect, and maintain relevant workshop tools, power equipment, and specialized precision instruments with strict adherence to safety standards.
Adhere to all statutory health, safety, and environmental standards governed by the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and internal operating procedures.
Maintain thorough and accurate administrative records of maintenance logbooks, task checklists, and spare parts requisitioning.
Complete all scheduled institutional, theoretical, and practical training modules required to achieve full trade test readiness.
Support operational efficiency and safety initiatives by identifying potential mechanical hazards and recommending continuous improvements.

Requirements
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Pure Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
N2 or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting subjects will be an added advantage.
All relevant certified copies of academic qualifications, identity document, and certificates must be attached.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket) in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in trade engineering.
South African citizenship with preference given to local community candidates in line with the company's Employment Equity Plan.
