Job Description
AFGRI Equipment is inviting ambitious, energetic, and mechanically inclined individuals to apply for the Apprenticeship Programme 2026 / 2027. This structured 3-year developmental opportunity is designed to prepare candidates to qualify as certified Tractor Mechanics or Earthmoving Mechanics. The programme combines hands-on technical workshop training with distance learning and institutional instruction supported by AgriSETA and MerSETA. Candidates will start with an initial 6-month probation period to evaluate mutual suitability before formal long-term trade contracting begins.
Key Responsibilities
Participate actively in practical in-service technical training under the mentorship of certified trade specialists.
Perform diagnostics, routine maintenance, servicing, and mechanical repairs on agricultural tractors and earthmoving equipment.
Complete required distance learning subjects and theoretical modules through accredited training colleges.
Attend designated practical training institute sessions, product-specific supplier courses, and internal workshop modules.
Assist with workshop stock management, parts control, and tool maintenance.
Deliver exceptional customer service and uphold clean, safe working environments adhering strictly to health and safety standards.

Requirements
Must possess a valid National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with passes in English and Pure Mathematics or Technical Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy is NOT accepted).
Valid South African driver’s license.
Good administrative and computer literacy skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Subjects such as Physical Science, Technical Science, Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD), Diesel Trade Theory, or Motor Trade Theory will be advantageous.
Highly motivated, goal-driven, and detail-oriented with a positive attitude towards physical mechanical trade work.
