The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury is offering 40 internship opportunities for 2026/2027, providing a vital pathway for graduates to gain practical experience within the public sector. Engineering and Infrastructure Internships
Engineering, infrastructure and built-environment graduates can consider the following opportunities:
- Infrastructure Management – X1
- Qualification: Built Environment; or Geographical Information System.
- Infrastructure Procurement – X1
- Qualification: Quantity Surveying; or Civil Engineering.
- Municipal Infrastructure Performance Management – X2
- Qualification: Civil Engineering; or Quantity Surveying.
General Internship Requirements
Applicants must meet the qualification requirements of the position for which they are applying. The internship advertisements consistently require:
- A National Senior Certificate.
- A relevant Degree at NQF Level 7 or National Diploma at NQF Level 6 recognised by SAQA.
- Applicants must be unemployed.
- Applicants must never have participated in an internship programme previously.

Documents Required When Applying

- A detailed Curriculum Vitae.
Applicants are not required to submit copies of qualifications or other supporting documents at the initial application stage. Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents on or before the interview date. The Department notes that the Z83 generated by the e-Recruitment system is currently not signable. Applicants who apply through the system will therefore not be disqualified because the generated Z83 is unsigned; shortlisted applicants may be requested to sign it on or before the interview date.
